Keltza's Blumen was born in 2012 while I was in my third year of high school. Unfortunately, the birth of the brand coincided with a rather complicated period as I was facing serious health problems and had to 'occupy time' during long absences from school.
Drawing on the various notions of crochet, sewing and the like that had been given to me by my grandmother and aunts, I decided to take this hobby seriously and turn it into a small business that allowed me to keep my mind busy and, when I started to get better, finance my studies.
Over the years the style has changed, evolved, the search for material has become finer and more accurate, and we have arrived at what Keltza's Blumen looks like now.
Initially, we only made bags and accessories in webbing, a material that was later almost completely abandoned in favour of cord, which is lighter, easier to handle and also sustainable, as it is more durable (the cord we use is locally made, as it is the same one used in Monte Isola to make ropes, fishing nets, hammocks and other typical local objects); we have also included bags and accessories in fine and refined fabrics (such as brocade, velvet, damask and 3D tulle) among our articles.
Recently, again linking up with the discourse of durability, the philosophy of less waste and sustainability, we have also included small accessories such as scruncie (80s pigtails), make-up remover pads made of natural fibres and small home furnishing items (mainly cushions, reusable paper towels and washcloths) to reduce the textile waste produced as much as possible.
